But why Wagner?
I guess, like the other kinds of human being, I need human touch & support. But, by being the sceptic & cynical me, and by being extremely rational (yet trying to be empathic, in term of understanding the human mind observed from multi sides), sometimes I just have to let myself out of emotion support from the others. In those times, I have Wagner.

Young Siegfried! That large reptile you are facing is only Fafner the greedy giant. With the golden ring he gains the power, with the tarnhelm he sets his thousand faces, covering his rotten heart. Siegfried, the fearless, you are not weak. Your pen is sharper than any sword. The giant’s heart is beating fearfully facing your sharp mind.
Siegfried … your time now! -

Many dreams and journeys have passed, without Wagner’s music. He’s replaced by Vasks, Gershwin, or silence. Sometime some things are attached to us like mind and soul. Then one day we decide not even to think about it with no apparent reason. Oh, I’ve just got a pouch of Toraja coffee, similar to Kopi Kampung.

Wotan: Jalani saja hukumanmu. -

Wotan: “Aku tak bisa melakukannya sendiri karena terikat sumpah. Maka kubimbing manusia bebas untuk cara menjalani hidupnya. Lalu biarlah ia yang akan menegakkan harmoni semesta.”
Fricka: “Ia bukan manusia bebas, selama ia menjalani hidupnya mengikuti inspirasi langsung darimu. Musnahkan ia.” -

“I hate this fast growing tendency to chain men to machines in big factories and deprive them of all joy in their efforts – the plan will lead to cheap men and cheap products.” — Richard Wagner

After days with Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, these days I’m accompanied by Act 1 of Wagner’s Die Walküre. A philosophy embedded in music, as I used to say. I mean, even the music. Umwertung aller Werte. Umwertung aller Werte
. The greatness and the absurdity, blended. The greatness of life. So silly. So great. -

Beethoven’s main characteristic, I guess, is the way its dramatic sessions raid simple & quiet melodies. And also motives, of which concept would one day copied & improved by Wagner.
